  • Have you heard of the life-changing benefits of yoga?
  • Are you interested in the  mind-body connection and integrating a regular yoga practice into your life?
  • Would you like to do more than just attend a yoga class and really connect with the other members?

Insight is now offering a yoga therapy group for anyone looking to incorporate yoga into their healing  and mental health practices.

Yoga therapy utilizes the teachings and practices of yoga to empower individuals to move towards improved health and well-being. These practices include mindful movement, breathwork, meditation, visualization, energetic hand gestures, mantra/ sacred sound, intention setting, lifestyle practices, and teachings from yogic philosophy.

The autonomic nervous system helps us to read and react to threats of danger by listening to the
body, the environment, and the nervous systems of beings around us. A regular yoga practice
cultivates greater somatic awareness and tones the vagus nerve, allowing students to move from
a sympathetic response (fight/ flight/ freeze) to parasympathetic (rest and digest) with greater ease.

No prior yoga experience is necessary.

Lindsey Derus has been teaching yoga for 10+ years and is certified as a yoga therapist.
She provides an integrative approach that supports clients in
reconnecting with their body and accessing the valuable wisdom it has to offer.

What to Expect:
A balance between group discussion, yoga practice, and experiential exercises. The practices are trauma-informed meaning there is sensitivity to reducing potential triggers and activation in the nervous system.  The practices will be accessible to all experience levels; so it is not necessary to have any prior experience with yoga.

UPCOMING DATES:

June 11th- July 16th - 6 weeks: Five Layers of Being

We will use the lens of the Panchakosha Model ("five sheaths" model) to explore the ways that the physical body, energetic body, mental/ emotional body, wisdom body, and bliss body influence our experience of ourselves and the world around us.

Fall 2024:
Qualities of Energy

We will explore dynamic, static, and balanced states of energy (the tri-gunas) as they relate to fluctuations in mood and flight/ flight/ freeze, learn to identify these states of energy in the body and develop skills for self-regulating.
