ABOUT SSP

Based on years of research by Dr. Stephen Porges and his Polyvagal Theory, the Safe and Sound Protocol (SSP) is a five-hour therapeutic listening intervention designed to support your emotional regulation and neuroception (i.e. sense of one's safety), as well as decrease any auditory sensitivity you may have. The music is designed to stimulate the vagus nerve, which is responsible for calming the nervous system. This allows for enhanced social engagement and resilience in children and adults. The purpose of SSP is to create new, positive connections in the brain that allow you to regulate yourself by "stretching the nervous system, not stressing the nervous system."

SSP is a great way to help children and adults move through major transitions (such as starting school, starting a new job, going on vacation), engage more purposefully in social interaction, experience emotional regulation, and prepare for participation in other therapeutic interventions. SSP is meant to complement the work a child or adult is already doing (or will be doing) in therapy-- it is not meant as a stand along intervention.

As SSP works implicitly on the nervous system to enhance one's neuroception, the work with a therapist will work explicitly to recognize your state of regulation and find strategies to get back to a state of regulation more readily. The protocol is also adaptive and changes with the latest research in the field. Visit the Integrated Listening System (ILS) website for more information.

Who can benefit from SSP?

SSP is a music-based intervention that can address dysregulation caused by Sensory Processing Disorders, anxiety disorders, post-traumatic stress disorders, sleep disorders, Autism Spectrum Disorders, misophonia, and other factors that cause an overactive or underactive emotional state.

By reducing auditory sensitivities and improving the ability to process human speech, the goal of SSP is to calm the autonomic nervous system so that you can become more social, engaged, and responsive to your own emotional needs. Other benefits may include improved digestion, improved sleep, and improved vocal tone.

Find Inner Peace and Calm through Safe and Sound Protocol.

Hello there! I'm Lisette, and I firmly believe that the intricacies of our thoughts don't always mirror reality, yet they hold immense power in shaping our emotional landscapes. I'm captivated by the idea that emotions often serve as the interpreter of our internal worlds, communicating in a language that many of us are still learning to decipher.

My journey has led me to pursue a path as a compassionate and dedicated therapist. I'm driven by a passion for supporting others in sculpting transformative changes in their bodies, minds, and lives. With each step of my journey, I've recognized the significance of fostering a deep awareness within myself and aiding a similar process alongside my clients, encouraging a titrated yet sincere embodiment of their experience.

As a somatic psychotherapist in training with a certification in SSP, I'm focused on integrating the principles of the Safe and Sound Protocol (SSP) from the Polyvagal Theory into my sessions. I understand that true healing encompasses not only the mind but also the body, and this understanding fuels my commitment to guiding individuals toward a holistic sense of well-being. My approach involves immersing in sensations, tuning into emotions, grounding within the body, and tracing the intricate dance between movements and thoughts.

I am honored to be on this path of growth and learning, where I continually strive to bridge the gap between thoughts and feelings, empowering individuals to navigate their internal landscapes with grace and understanding. Join me on this transformative journey, as we explore the profound connection between mind and body and work together to pave the way for lasting change.

Thank you for being a part of my story and for allowing me to be a part of yours.
