Lisette Mumm

Lisette Mumm, Master's Level Intern

I’m a passionate and dedicated student therapist deeply intrigued by how our thoughts, though not always a perfect reflection of reality, significantly shape our emotional landscapes. I believe that emotions are the interpreters of our internal worlds, communicating in a language many of us are still learning to understand.
My professional journey has been driven by a desire to support individuals in achieving transformative changes in their minds, bodies, and overall lives. This pursuit has instilled in me a profound appreciation for deep self-awareness—a quality I strive to cultivate within myself and encourage in my clients, facilitating a genuine and titrated embodiment of their experiences.
As a Body Psychotherapist in training, my therapeutic approach is deeply rooted in the principles of the Polyvagal Theory and trauma-informed care, ensuring a sensitive and careful integration of body and mind in the healing process. I also incorporate the Internal Family Systems (IFS) methodology, which supports clients in exploring and understanding their multifaceted internal dynamics. Recognizing that connecting with the body can be challenging for many, I tailor my methods to meet clients exactly where they are in their journey. I hold a certification in the Gottman Method for couples therapy, which enriches my ability to support both partnered and single clients. I have a particular focus in aiding those who are navigating the complexities of chronic pain or illness and individuals who have faced abandonment during their formative years.
In therapy, I focus on engaging with sensations, attuning to emotions, and grounding in the physical body, all while tracing the dynamic interplay between movement and thought. This holistic method fosters a deeper connection between mind and body, empowering individuals to navigate their internal landscapes with safety and insight.
I am honored to walk this path of continuous growth and learning. Thank you for being part of my journey and for allowing me to be part of yours.
